Goodquarry is designed for all who have an interest in the environment and quarrying. Each of the potential environmental impacts listed alongside is considered in detail, with particular focus on promoting good practice. Since 2004, Goodquarry has been used as a source of helpful information by those within the industry (operators, planners, consultants, etc.) and by the public who may be affected by a quarry. It is also proving to be a valuable educational resource.
New Geodiversity Section
The original short section on Geodiversity has been significantly expanded through a project funded by Natural England´s ALSF Partnership Scheme. It details the ways in which quarries can contribute to Geodiversity, as well as giving some background information. A significant number of Geodiversity Case Studies have also been added.
New Section on Quarry Waste + Fines
This new section represents the output from a British Geological Survey project looking at ways of reducing quarry waste and its impact on the environment. It has replaced the original section on Mineral Waste.
New Section on Production Technology
This section accompanies the section on Quarry Waste + Fines and has been developed from the same project. It is designed to give the necessary technical background to facilitate good practice.
