Most of the problems between an operator and a local community arise when there is an attitude of confrontation rather than co-operation. Good communication is vital to ensure that the local residents know that their concerns are taken seriously and will be acted upon, and that the contributions made by an operator in a community (e.g. financial support, educational resources or recreational facilities) are appropriate.

Significant contributions to this section have been received from the partners listed above and they can be contacted for further information.
