Most quarries transport their material by road, which may cause increased congestion, together with visual intrusion, air pollution, dust and noise. Alternative transport methods may be possible, otherwise, sensible planning of routes and times, as well as high standards of vehicle condition and driver behaviour can all help to minimise the problem.
